In The Beginning
Originally
self-taught Staci Offwood started with an urge for capturing moments shared
with friends and the beauty of her native surroundings. Working in the
hospitality industry Staci found enjoyment in creating that impeccable coffee
and spent many days perfecting her skills alongside companies such as The
Underground Coffee Company in Christchurch.
Ten
years later Staci realized a real future in combining her love of great coffee
with her passion for photography and Whanake Gallery & Espresso Bar was
developed.
Growing up on the West Coast
Growing up and living in Westport it is hard not to
appreciate the wonderfully wild natural beauty of the West Coast.
The West Coast is home to a variety of native plants and
wild life. Staci has spent many days trekking through untouched bush and
coastlines to capture the stunning scenery to bring images to locals and
travelers alike. Spending time working alongside legends such as Craig Potten
and Andy Denise Staci has developed a unique understanding of our environment
and the sometimes hidden treasures it holds.
Staci concentrates her photographic energies into
immobilizing what the eye can see and only the memory could otherwise capture. Developing
different ways to portray her images Staci already has a vast range of media,
her preference being canvas.
Whanake
Developed in 2007 Whanake Gallery & Espresso Bar has
emerged a booming business bringing great coffee and spectacular Staci Offwood
Phtography to the world.
Staci has developed many means to display her photography
form Frames, Canvas, Ceramic Tiles, Blocks, Post Cards & Greeting Cards to
even creating her own Whanake Clothing Line. Whanake apparel is a means to
promote the area using simplistic images of iconic Westcoast symbols that Staci
has enhanced from her own popular images and printed onto a range of clothing. To
truly see the Coast for its unique qualities Staci believes you must be open to
new experiences and be willing to venture into the unknown. The West Coast is
an amazing place and the locals are always willing to share their stories and
point you in the right direction.
